Much to post after so long away. So a set of links:
Story in today's NY Times (thanks Tess!) on companies building expectations for C payments into planning.
Stories earlier this week from the NY Times and the Atlantic stemming from a new Energy Information Agency report released last month. Big surprise: energy consumption is forecast to increase, particularly in the developing world and that the poor need cheap, clean energy.
Here is another NY Times piece - this one on using wood to co-fire power plants. I meant to bring this up and have you read it for class. How would you do the accounting for a power plant that runs on wood AND coal?
The Economist recently reviewed the potential impacts of gas developments in the US.
Decarbonization in Japan through giant offshore windmills?
A tax on C could contribute to addressing air pollution in China - a more immediate concern than reducing GHG emissions. (additionality be damned!)
Finally, thanks to John for this link to the Global Forest Change project page - a google map of deforestation globally from landsat data. Very neat stuff!
