Shifts from sink to source

Still at the CCSSG meeting in DC. A program director from DOE (Mike Kuperberg) is talking about the President's Climate Action Plan and the role of forests. Forests had been a sink, but this report suggests that this sink may change to a source due to forecast changes in land use and climate. If that happens, it will essentially increase the amount of remission reduction required to meet goals (e.g., ~-20% by 2020). The figure below shows the change in C stocks in land that is now forested by decade through 2060.
